Graduations are always exciting, but this young lady was treated to a fabulous blow out to celebrate her acheivements! We started with a custom made banner that not only announced her accomplishment to the neighborhood but also brought out her charachter and personality. We made a feature "wall" with pink and black sparkly banners, hanging photos of her senior portrait shoot and pics of the graduate throughout the years. A great element of the party was the pink dress form where freinds and family could fill out custom made cards with words of encouragement and hang them on the form. We provided a special card box in her favorite color and had a custom cake designed by Heather Singleton of Party Delights that had three awesome flavors that wowed all the guests! From a massive outdoor patio with fireplace to an upper deck for serving, this home set a great tone for this very special graduation celebration.
We were brought in to throw a simple marketing party with a beach theme...but if you know us, you know we turn simple into simply fantastic! No one could have ever imagined all the details we put into this event, right down to bringing in sand for actual beach scenes at the front entrance. We created "piers" complete with rope, surf boards and beach chairs and umbrellas. We turned a normal john boat into an outside bar, housing beverages and bar ware. Guests were treated to a photo op trading in their bodies for beach bodies with wooden cut outs. We took pictures and printed them on the spot for each guest to have a momento to take with them. Inside the ball room we set up serpentine tables with linens that mimiced the water, sea shells, sand and driftwood candle holders.
At Cathy Anna Events, we take ordinary and make it extraordinary! Here, we transformed a normal lobby at a Chapel Hill company into a walk along an Italian Piazzo. We made shutter and awnings for the upper windows and added string globe lights. Setting up an Al Fresco market scene was a great touch that everyone enjoyed and appreciated, right down to the signage which was all in Italian.
We were introduced to seven phenomenal young men who were Duke Grads, ROTC members and now active duty military soldiers. What an honor to be asked to plan their Kickoff event leaving Duke's iconic Duke Chapel and beinning a 6 day ultra marathon run from Durham, NC to New York City! We set up great Television interviews and press junkets for them to get the word out about their endeavor. All this to raise support for The Mission Continues that helps veterans transition back into social settings after being deployed. We even managed to get Governor Pat McRory to declare their departure day officially as "Freedom 500 Day in North Carolina". Along the way, theses guys picked up supporters and press with word of their arrival into new communities spreading like wildfire. It was amazing to see how folks all over the East Coast came out to support these men and their willingness to punish their bodies for the cause. Very proud moment for us indeed!
Being grounded and invested in our own communities is important to the design team. We were able to turn "crappy" into "happy" after financial backing from The Summit Church in Durham, NC and lots of volunteers. This space was an unused, dreadful and gloomy room that no one really wanted to use. We lightened the paint on the walls and added lots of color to the room in a way that inspires creativity. We built frames and covered them with a fabulous floral pattern that made expensive looking, yet oh so affordable, artwork! By purchasing used furniture from a local rental center, we were able to take ordinary dark kitchen tables and prime and paint them a bright high gloss white. Adding chrome and leather chairs was a bonus for sure. The principal was also kind enough to let us take drab blue and grey cabinets and breathe new life with some paint and new hardware. This project just goes to show you that any space can be transformed with a little Cathy Anna Events magic! Now this space invites teachers in to grade papers, work on projects or just take a time out.
